Matthijs Lunenburg – Cornett, Recorder, artistic leader

IMG_9787Born in Nimwegen, Nedtherlands Matthijs lives and works in Salzburg. Since he had discovered the fun and beauty of improvisation as part of the performance of 16th and 17th century music, he decided to dedicate himself to it. Finishing the recorder studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (Bachelor & Master) with Walter van Hauwe in 2007, he already had begun studying cornett with Wiliam Dongois in Paris, and later on Geneva, as from 2006. Since 2009 he continued his studies with Bork-Frithjof Smith at the Staatl. Musikhochschule Trossingen.
As a recorder and cornett player and member of groups like ‘The Royal Wind Music’, he has toured Europe and the USA. Also he appeared on stage with groups such as ‘L’Arpa Festante’ and the ‘Marini Consort’, ‘Musica Antiqua Salzburg’, Freiburger Barock Orchest, Les Cornets Noirs, Lautten Compagney, Capella della Torre, Balthasar Neumann Ensemble, Ensemble Vivante, and many others.
He teaches as assistant to Prof. Dorothee Oberlinger at the Mozarteum University of Salzburg.
